Door County has been very fortunate to have some fairly significant telecommunications infrastructure and service upgrades in recent months. This Broadband Summit is a day to celebrate and promote the infrastructure and service upgrades in Door County and debut the new telecommunications layer on the Door County GIS Map.
The Summit a day-long event, open to the public, with three roundtable presentations at locations around the County:
- 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. | Roundtable at Crossroads at Big Creek, Sturgeon Bay
- 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. | Roundtable at Bertschinger Center, Egg Harbor
- 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. | Roundtable at Sister Bay Fire Station
Read about the County's efforts to address high-speed telecommunications gaps and a new strategic economic plan that serves as a pathway to the future economic growth in the County: "Creating a Technology Advisory Council to Advance High Speed Connectivity in Your Community."

Draft Broadband Investment Plan
In fall 2010, the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSC) appointed 18 community leaders from the area to the Broadband Planning Team representing Northeast Wisconsin (Brown, Door, Florence, Green Lake, Waushara, Fond du Lac, Oconto, Menominee, Waupaca, Kewaunee, Manitowoc, Marinette, Shawano, Marquette, Outagamie, Calumet, Sheboygan and Winnebago Counties).
The Region 5 Broadband Planning Team held meetings to create an action plan to address gaps in broadband availability and improve the adoption of available broadband services.
After considerable preliminary work and numerous meetings, the Team launched a preliminary plan and is starting to form localized Technology Leadership Groups.
